Episode Title:The Madonna of the Polar Star.Episode Description:Soma is sent to Polar Star Dormitory, a dorm for students whose home is far away from the school. He is greeted by Fumio DaimidÅ, the caretaker, and is told to cook a dish that satisfies her to become a resident. Soma creates a mackerel burger meal using leftover ingredients in the kitchen, impressing Fumio greatly. Soma meets the other residents in his welcoming party: YÅ«ki Yoshino who specialises in wild game, RyÅko Sakaki who specializes in fermentation and alcoholic beverages, Shun Ibusaki who specialises in smoked food, Zenji Marui who specialises in in-depth food research, and Daigo Aoki and ShÅji SatÅ, neither of whom specialise in any one area of cooking but are skilled enough to remain at the academy. He also finds that Megumi specialises in vegetable and seafood dishes and meets Satoshi Isshiki, the only second-year (the other residents are first-years), who specialises in traditional Japanese cuisine. During the party, Soma is told about the Elite Ten, the highest decision-making body in the school other than the school director. This group consists of ten exceptionally talented students, with the 10th seat being Erina, and the 7th seat being Satoshi. Satoshi decides to challenge Soma to a cookoff. When he presents his peppered mackerel dish, Soma is shocked by the high quality of his cooking.
